Find out how to view, pay or request a review of a parking fine, and understand your options and obligations.
Be sure to check parking signs and time limits to avoid a fine. Authorised Council officers may issue expiation notices in line with relevant legislation.
You can pay current expiations (fines) through our online payments portal
Use the sections below to:
View your parking fine
You can view the details of your expiation notice, including any photos taken by the Officer. This information may help you decide what action to take.
What you need:
- Expiation notice number
- Vehicle registration number
If you have lost your notice, contact our Citizen Services Team on 08 8366 4555.
Why are there no photos?
Officers are not legally required to take photos. Your fine is still valid even if no photos are available.
Why am I seeing “no results found”?
If your fine was issued within the last 24 hours, it may not yet be available in the system.
Fees and payment options
Fees
Parking expiation fees, including late fees, are set by the State Government and apply to all councils. Council must charge the fee associated with the alleged offence.
Instalment options
If you cannot pay the full amount, you may request a payment arrangement through the Fines Enforcement and Recovery Unit.
Visit the Fines Enforcement and Recovery Unit website or call 1800 659 538.
How to pay your fine
Parking expiation fees must be paid in full by the due date shown on your notice.
If payment is not received on time:
- A reminder notice will be issued
- A late fee will be applied
The reminder fee is set under the Expiation of Offences Regulations 2011 and covers the cost of obtaining registered owner details and issuing the reminder.
Pay your fine:
Appeals process
The Expiation of Offences Act 1996 outlines when an expiation notice may be withdrawn.
Request a review
If you believe there are valid grounds, you may request a review.
Submit your appeal using the online Review of Expiation Notice Form
You may download and complete a Review of Expiation Notice Form (PDF) if preferred.
If you were not the driver
Due to a change in legislation, if you were not the driver or did not own the vehicle at the time of an offence, you can now complete a Nomination Form instead of a Statutory Declaration.
The Nomination Form is not required to be witnessed and signed by a Justice of the Peace.
Download and complete the Driver Nomination Form and email it to townhall@npsp.sa.gov.au
Important: Providing false or misleading information may result in penalties of up to $25,000 or 4 years imprisonment under section 174A(13) of the Road Traffic Act 1961
What happens after I submit a review?
- Your expiation will be placed on hold during the review.
- Council will notify you of the outcome in writing using your preferred contact method.
Reviews are conducted in accordance with the Expiation of Offences Act 1996
If you ignore an expiation notice
If the due date passes:
- A reminder notice and fee will be issued
- If still unpaid, the matter will be referred to the Fines Enforcement and Recovery Unit
